Toyota 86 Club Malaysia Takes It Online This Year

The lockdown did not stop the 86 X BRZ Malaysia from hosting their annual event. This year the club will be hosting a series of activities and competition all online.

The 86X BRZ Malaysia Reunion 2021 is officially underway. Every year in August, Toyota 86 owners and enthusiasts around the world come together to celebrate ‘The 86 Day’.

The Malaysian charter was founded by former President Nicholas Gan in 2013 with only a handful of owners in Malaysia. The group grew exponentially from 2015 onwards.

The steady stream of new members allowed for the organisation of the first 86 Track Day at Sepang Circuit in 2018 and was participated by over 100 owners. The following year, the club organized the 86 Festival 2019 together with AE86 Club Malaysia and garnered over 300 owners making it one of the largest 86 Event in Southeast Asia.

Despite the fact that Malaysia is still under strict nationwide lockdown, the 86 X BRZ Malaysia is taking this year’s celebration and event online.

This year’s event, aptly entitled “The Reunion 2021″, holds a very special meaning for the club and its members. It is known to most that the 86 X BRZ Malaysia has a very active and positive chatgroup whose core values are the strength of its community. The club has planned for two ‘Virtual Teh Tarik” Zoom meetings with the first session taking place on the 7th August 2021 at 10.00pm local time.

” I hope this is one way our members from all around Malaysia including Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan can come together. Not forgetting our friends from neighbouring Singapore and Brunei too. “

Starting from the 6 August – 28 August 2021, the club has planned a list of activities which includes their first GT Sport E-Racing and Assetto Corsa E-Drifting. Alongside the e-games, other activities includes webinars with curated topics such as car care, advance driving, turbo talks just to name a few.

There will also be prizes to be won sponsored by Pit & Go Vision Auto Sport, Sunway – Authorized Dealer HKS and Denso, Japan and Lukoil Lubricant Malaysia.

Of course the 86 X BRZ Malaysia is known for hosting track day, driver training and weekend drives. A quick chat with Alan Tan also revealed that he has plans for next year 10th Years Anniversary Festival to celebrate the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ which was launched in 2012.

For many, the organising committee from 86 X BRZ Malaysia will be an exampletory to other similar clubs and without exception Weekend Octane is also proud to be the exclusive media partner with 86 X BRZ Malaysia Reunion 2021.
