Suzuki Jimny, Uncompromising Off-Roader. Available in Malaysia soon!

The Suzuki Jimny remains a niche player in a market dominated by refined and capable crossovers. If you want a fine-handling SUV, this is not the car for you.

Now in its fourth generation, the Suzuki Jimny does not betray the openly offroad spirit that has distinguished it since its beginnings in the early 70s. Two decades after the release of the previous version (the third, in 1998), this compact, lightweight off-roader returns to the spotlight with a fresh, updated look that pays homage to all the most acclaimed features of the previous series.

The Suzuki Jimny 5-door is powered by the 1.5-litre K15B four-cylinder petrol and it makes 102 hp at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The two gearbox options are a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic. There is the AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a low range transfer case as well as a brake-based limited-slip differential. A hill-hold and hill-descent function is also available.

As with the Swift Sport, expect the Jimny to arrive as a fully-imported (CBU) model, seeing how the Naza Group said previously that it will focus on a CBU-only business for now. How much do you think it’ll cost? As a point of reference, the top-spec XG with the 4AT in Japan goes for 1,611,500 yen (RM61,116). Closer to Malaysia, the Jimny starts at 395.5 rupiah (RM115,669) in Indonesia.

Naza Eastern Motors, appointed sole distributor by Suzuki Motor Corporation launched the much anticipated Suzuki Swift Sport 1.4L Turbo in April for RM140.000.
