New Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ

New Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ

The second-generation Toyota GR 86 is due for the 2022 model year, and although it's completely new, it follows the same rear-wheel-drive formula as the first-gen car. Developed again in conjunction with the Subaru BRZ, the 2022 GR 86 will be powered by a horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine and a standard six-speed manual transmission.

This time around, Toyota has addressed our principal complaint with the last generation and has given the GR 86 more horsepower for 2022. The evolutionary new 2.4L horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine, lightweight, compact engine with a low center-of-gravity in line with previous iterations. The GR 86 increases its displacement size from 2.0 to 2.4L.
The engine delivers superior driving performance as a consequence, achieving 0–100km/h acceleration in just 6.3 seconds. Engine responsiveness has also been enhanced, providing smooth, stress-free sensations from low to high rpms.
